Our people

We aim to provide a dynamic and rewarding working environment for our 2000+ people around the globe. Each individual plays a crucial role in our success, and we understand that the journey we take together is not always an easy one. But we back our people to make sure their wellbeing comes first. We also offer competitive remuneration and reward packages – to recognise excellent performance and encourage our talent to be part of our future.

We’re proud to have earned the Top Employers Institute’s award in the UK for 12 years running. But it’s not about the accolade – we’re committed to ensuring IG Group remains a preferred place to work.

A critical part of building a sustainable business is ensuring that our people and our culture are aligned to our shared values, which shape our attitudes and behaviours. These are:

  • Champion the client
  • Learn fast together
  • Raise the bar

Communication and involvement

We have multiple channels of communication to ensure that our people can learn more about our business and our performance at any time. And our uncorporate, non-hierarchical culture means that senior management and the Board are seen as accessible and approachable. It’s easy for our people to connect with them informally when they want.

Our Group CEO, June Felix, is a hands-on member of our executive team, addressing our people and answering their questions in regular company updates. We also have a People Forum, where people representing all areas of the business meet regularly with members of our Board to raise any issues and chat openly about topics of interest to our employees. And we hold plenty of informal and social events where colleagues in different parts of the company can connect.

To understand our people’s perceptions of our business and address their concerns, we carry out annual engagement surveys. These provide a way for every person to make their voice heard and have their opinions considered by the executive team and the Board. We also appoint engagement champions in each division of the business, who help us to decide what actions we should take in light of our employees’ feedback.

Equality, diversity and inclusion

We believe that a diverse workforce brings creative energy to our business, powers innovation and sets us up for continued global success. We’re committed to developing teams of individuals with a wide variety of perspectives and skills to help us realise our vision and strategy. So we welcome people of any age, ethnicity, culture, faith, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation or physical capacity who connect with our values and bring something fresh to our business.

If our people become disabled, temporarily or permanently, we provide continuing employment wherever practicable in the same, or an alternative, position. We give them appropriate training and/or graduated back-to-work programmes, and enlist assistance from occupational health professionals to do this successfully.

Through our global employee networks, each of which has executive sponsorship, a formalised annual plan of activities and dedicated funding, we support and celebrate our people’s diversity.

We also nurture relationships with organisations that promote diversity in our industry. These include Code First: Girls and Stonewall, a UK-based organisation that campaigns for the equality of LGBT+ people.

We’re proud to maintain an environment free from bullying, where people of all grades and positions are treated with dignity and respect.

Health and wellbeing

We’re fully committed to maintaining the health and wellbeing of our people. And with Covid-19, this support is more important than ever. We’ve enhanced our work-from-home policy to include a hybrid working model for all 20 locations, so our people don’t need to come into the office every day.

In the UK, our people can access our flexible benefits portal, which enables them to personalise their benefits according to their lifestyle requirements. Among the options they can choose are private healthcare, the cycle to work scheme and health assessments. We also provide medical health and pension plan contributions, and discounted gym access to many of our people worldwide.

We recently launched a global employee assistance programme (EAP). Our people can now get 24/7 telephone counselling and use other wellbeing resources all over the world. Services are delivered in local languages for each location, and all calls made to the helpline are completely confidential.

We want our people to work in a safe and healthy environment. By providing all staff with appropriate training, we ensure that we comply with all statutory health and safety requirements.

Developing talent

We believe in learning fast together. So all of our people are able to benefit from a variety of learning and development resources, ranging from on-the-job coaching and mentoring, to webinars, secondments and our hugely popular monthly skill-sharing sessions. We foster a collegiate culture, and our senior people and business experts are happy to share their knowledge – both through structured learning events and in day-to-day interactions with colleagues.

We encourage our people to attend relevant external events and, where appropriate, we sponsor formal, industry-recognised training courses and qualifications for them. Our mentoring programmes also continue to expand, with the aim of motivating and developing our people with high potential. Plus, we partner new joiners with a ‘buddy’ to help them settle in and get to know their colleagues quickly and comfortably.

Ourleaders play important roles in our success, and we foster their skills through our management development schemes in London, Kraków and Bangalore.
